The job:
As part of Procentia’s continuing growth, we are seeking to recruit a Lead QAT Automation Engineer to join a professional team of Quality Assurance Engineers.
The purpose of this role is to design, develop, and implement an automation test framework (preference for Playwright) based on best practices that allow us to provide continued assurance whilst we scale our build, development, and release capability.
Both strategic and hand on in nature, you’ll simplify and present the technical challenges and cases for change as well as building out test cases to implement a significant automated regression pack for our flagship product, IntelliPen.
Here's what you'll be doing:
We are looking for a Lead QAT Automation Engineer with a proven background in both back-end and front-end automation testing. You’ll have expertise in API testing (Postman or similar) and solid experience with Python for automating test scripts. Your knowledge of front-end tools like Playwright, Selenium, or Cypress will be key to ensuring robust browser UI automation, and you’ll be comfortable integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines.
A good grasp of version control systems (e.g., Git) and test management tools (Azure DevOps, JIRA, TestRail) is essential to manage and track progress effectively.
Your ability to solve problems with a methodical approach and identify root causes is crucial. As part of your role, you’ll need to communicate complex technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring everyone is on the same page. You’ll thrive in an Agile environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and your experience in Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) frameworks like Cucumber or SpecFlow will allow you to work closely with non-technical stakeholders to ensure alignment with business goals.
We’re looking for someone with experience in cloud-based testing, including tools for platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. You’ll also have a strong hand in leading the development of test automation strategies, ensuring they align with both technical goals and the company’s objectives. Mentoring junior team members, providing them with guidance on best practices, and maintaining a client-facing attitude will be an important aspect of your role.
Key skills and experience:
- Expertise in API testing (Postman, etc.) and Python for automation scripting.
- Proficient using front-end testing tools (Playwright preferred, or Selenium, Cypress) and integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with version control (e.g., Git) and test management tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, JIRA, TestRail).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify root causes of issues.
- Excellent communication, able to articulate technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrable technical leadership
- Experienced in Agile and Waterfall environments, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Expertise in BDD frameworks (e.g., Cucumber, SpecFlow) to collaborate with non-technical stakeholders and improve test automation alignment with business requirements.
- Experience with automating tests in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and leveraging cloud-based testing tools.
